The SYRAC GPS is a compact, rugged device specifically designed for watersports. It combines high accuracy, long battery life, extensive storage capacity and ease of use, with a display that remains clearly visible even in direct sunlight.
Its generous storage capacity allows you to save thousands of hours of GPS recordings, without having to constantly delete previous tracks.
The 2500 mAh battery provides enough power for recording sessions of up to 24 hours, depending on the device configuration and operating conditions.
The device is designed to keep the GPS antenna facing the sky while minimising the presence of metal components nearby. This helps optimise GPS reception and maximise the number of tracked satellites.
The electronic paper (E-paper) display offers excellent readability, even in direct sunlight, while maintaining extremely low power consumption.
The SYRAC GPS provides the key metrics used in speed and sailing sports, with multiple configurable statistics screens and real-time information.
Specialised features include Alpha analysis and speed and distance measurements between virtual gates.
Users can customise a wide range of device settings, including:
The u-blox M10 module is specifically configured to achieve an optimal balance between accuracy, stability, update rate and power consumption, meeting the demands of high-speed watersports.
The SYRAC GPS uses the .GPY format, designed to store GPS recordings extremely efficiently, significantly reducing file sizes while retaining the information required for performance analysis.
GPY files are compatible with major specialist platforms and track analysis software such as GPSResults and GPS Speed Reader.
The device also supports recording tracks in alternative formats:
The SYRAC GPS is compatible with specialist platforms such as Speedsurf.app, GPS-Speedsurfing.com, GPSTC and KA72.com, among others.
Compatible recordings can be used to submit results and obtain the relevant compatibility or approval indicator on these platforms.
The SYRAC GPS features automatic Wi-Fi connectivity.
When connected to a Wi-Fi network, any computer, smartphone or tablet on the same network can access the GPS to download tracks and change device settings.
It can also operate as an independent Wi-Fi access point, allowing you to connect directly to the device anywhere, without requiring an Internet connection.
The device features wireless charging and requires no physical connectors or ports.
This allows the enclosure to remain completely sealed, improving water resistance, reliability and durability in marine environments.
The SYRAC GPS runs ESP-GPS open-source software, developed by Jan Heynen. The project is based on ESP32 development boards and u-blox GPS modules, and has evolved into a specialised solution for recording and analysing performance in watersports.
